The YS 110 α places itself in the Sea&Sea range one step below the YS250, considered the professional model. It is
anyhow a model of remarkable versatility, as it can be controlled via optical
cable, via electric cable, and in slave mode without cable. Therefore it can be
adapted to any kind of housing and to any light control system, as it can work
both in manual mode and in TTL in different ways. In addition, in manual mode
and in DS-TTL mode, it is possible to control the emission of the flash over as
many as 13 levels, thus modulating the light with great precision.
It has a pilot lamp and a removable diffuser. It is powered by 4 stylus AA
batteries, either normal alcaline, or NIMH, or rechargeable. The underwater

guide number indicated by the maker at 100 ISO is 11, but we should realize that
working in TTL it is actually 8, however, more than enough even with wideangle
lenses. The color temperature is the typical one of Sea& Sea stobes, between 5100 and 5400 K° with or without a diffuser.The coverage angle is indicated as 105 degrees with
the diffuser, and actually, tested on land, while without diffuser it doesn’t cover an 18 mm lens, with diffuser it only shows a slight loss at the corners,
