Underwater test of the SeaLife DC1000 with dedicated housing

The Sealife DC1000 is a prosumer compact (!?) presented as a camera-housing
bundle in 2009 by the New Jersey manufacturer, with a lot of emphasis on the
possibility of color adjustment depending on the different shooting conditions
underwater. The firm’s presentation says literally :”Colorful tropical fish, white sand beaches and crystal blue waters all come
together; creating the perfect vivid setting to capture your memories. SeaLife
brings all the true colors of the water and the world to your photographs. ”. We had the opportunity to test it in optimal conditions: snorkeling in

clear water with a September sun, at most in a couple of meters of water and the results are perplexing, in spite of slogans and of the sheer technical specs of the camera, which, by the way, shows off an appealing look with one of the most stylish and comfortable housings on the market. 10 megapixels, focusing from 5 cm, lens: 37-185 equiv. f3,2-4,8, 4 u/w setup modes, one of which manual for usage with an external strobe, 2,7” display, lithium rechargeable battery.
